Big Ten Network to have spring football special

April 10, 2008

IOWA CITY, Iowa — A 3 ½ hour spring football showcase will be aired by the Big Ten Network on Saturday, April 19, the day when eight league programs host their annual preseason scrimmages.

The special edition of Big Ten Tonight begins at noon (Iowa time). Dave Revsine, Gerry DiNardo and Howard Griffith will host the program from Chicago with live look-ins at the afternoon’s spring games.

The show will take fans not only to Kinnick Stadium for the Coca-Cola Iowa Football Spring Game, but also to scrimmages at Illinois, Indiana, Michigan State, Ohio State, Penn State, Purdue and Wisconsin. At each stop the Big Ten Network football analysts will give their opinions on the 2008 season, break down important position battles and discuss which players could have successful seasons.

Hawkeye fans who want to watch the spring practice without interruption can log onto BigTenNetwork.com for a live web stream. The service will be provided free of charge.

The Coca-Cola Iowa Spring Football game begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 19. Although admission is free, Hawkeye fans are encouraged to bring a canned food item that will benefit the local food bank. Gates open at 11:30 a.m.

There will be plenty of opportunities for Hawkeye fans to secure souvenirs before the scrimmage. The football equipment room will have a sale from 8-9:30 a.m. on the east side of the lower Recreation Building (cash only). The Hawk Shop will also hold its annual clearance sale beginning at 8 a.m. at the southeast corner of Kinnick Stadium (Gate M). 2008 football posters will be given away free while supplies last and 2008 Iowa football spring guides are available for purchase for $5.
