IOWA CITY — The U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association have ranked the Hawkeye women’s track team 26th nationally in the final pre-NCAA meet rankings. Iowa’s six national qualifiers will compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships June 11-14 in Des Moines. All events will be held at Jim Duncan Track on the Drake University campus.

The Hawkeyes are in 26th place with 83.6 points, narrowly missing 25th place, which is held by Florida State with 83.64. Iowa is one of five women’s teams representing the Big Ten Conference in the national poll. Penn State is ranked seventh, Minnesota 12th, Michigan 16th and Purdue 28th.

Iowa’s six NCAA qualifiers – seniors Diane Nukuri, Meghan Armstrong, Kineke Alexander and Tammilee Kerr, and juniors Renee White and Racheal Marchand – combined for the point total. Nukuri owns the second-fastest 10,000-meter time in the nation, earning 30.33 points, which is over one-third of the team total. Armstrong is ranked sixth in that event (21.83) and Marchand is ranked 18th (4.52). Alexander is ranked 10th in the 400 meters (13.20) and White is ranked 17th in the triple jump (5.21). Kerr has qualified in the heptathlon (16th-5.70) and javelin (21st-2.80).
