General Public Single-Game Ticket Sales Begin Thursday

IOWA CITY – The UI Athletics Ticket Office will begin accepting orders for single-game tickets to five of the seven home games to be played by the 2008 University of Iowa football team from the general public on Thursday.

Single-game tickets will be available for Iowa’s home games against Maine (Aug. 30), Florida International (Sept. 6), Northwestern (Sept. 27), Penn State (Nov. 8) and Purdue (Nov. 15). Iowa’s games against Iowa State (Sept. 13) and Wisconsin (Oct. 18) are sold out.

The UI Athletics Ticket Office will begin accepting ticket orders online at hawkeyesports.com at 5:30 a.m., Thursday. It will begin accepting telephone orders at 9 a.m. The UI Athletics Ticket Office location in Carver-Hawkeye Arena will be open from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Single-game tickets cost $50 for all five games. Discounted tickets priced at $25 and intended for use by boys and girls high school-aged and younger are also available for Iowa’s games against Maine and Florida International.

The UI Athletics Ticket Office is also accepting orders for season tickets from the general public, and UI faculty, staff and students. The UI expects to sell as many as 54,000 season tickets for the 2008 season. That total includes a sellout of all premium seating opportunities inside the Paul W. Brechler Press Box at Kinnick Stadium.

The UI Athletics Ticket Office is also accepting orders for three-game packages. Fans interested in this option choose to attend the Hawkeyes’ game against either the Maine or Florida International, and two of Iowa’s games against Northwestern, Penn State and Purdue. The UI expects to sell more than 1,500 three-game packages.

Iowa will enter the 2008 season with a string of 30 consecutive sellouts. The 2008 Hawkeyes will play four of their first five games at home with all four games scheduled to kick off shortly after 11 a.m. (Iowa time). The first three games will be televised in high definition to a national audience by the Big Ten Network.

The Hawkeyes’ 2008 Homecoming game against Northwestern on Sept. 27 will also kick off shortly after 11 a.m. The source of the live television coverage of that event is yet to be announced. The start times and television sources for Iowa’s other three home games in 2008 are also yet to be determined.
