IOWA CITY – Young fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes – and older ones, too – take note! The UI Athletics Department will stage the fifth annual Iowa Football Kids Day at historic Kinnick Stadium Saturday, Aug. 16.

Coach Kirk Ferentz and the UI coaching staff will put the 2008 Iowa Hawkeyes through a two-hour practice beginning at noon inside the home of the Hawkeyes. Gate A (south), B (southwest) and E (west) will open to the public at 11 a.m. with seating limited to the east and west grandstands. Admission is free.

The 2008 Hawkeyes will be available to sign autographs for 30 minutes after practice. Team members will line up along the railings on the at field level of the east and west grandstands. Team posters, schedule cards, schedule magnets and a 2008 roster cards will be available for fans at each entry point.

Iowa is one week into its pre-season practice schedule. The Hawkeyes open the 2008 campaign with consecutive home games against Maine (Aug. 30), Florida International (Sept. 6) and Iowa State (Sept. 13) before the team travels to Pittsburgh for a date with Big East Conference powerhouse Pitt on Sept. 20.

The UI opens its 2008 Big Ten Conference schedule on Sept. 27 against Northwestern in Kinnick.

Iowa’s games against Iowa State, Northwestern, Wisconsin and Penn State have reached sellout status with only a limited number of “singles” available for purchase. The UI Athletics Ticket Office can still accommodate a limited number of requests for season tickets from the general public and continues to accept orders for season tickets for current UI students. Single-game tickets are available for Iowa’s games against Maine, Florida International and Purdue.
