IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa football team’s home games against Northwestern and Penn State have reached sellout status, the UI Athletics Ticket Office announced today.

Iowa entertains Northwestern in this year’s Homecoming game scheduled for Sept. 27, at historic Kinnick Stadium. The Hawkeyes’ game against legendary coach Joe Paterno’s Penn State squad is scheduled for Nov. 8. Iowa’s games against intrastate rival Iowa State in this year’s Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series event on Sept. 13 and its date with Wisconsin in the annual battle for the “Heartland Trophy” on Oct. 18 were previously announced as sellouts.

“We can fill orders for a limited number of season ticket and purchases of `singles’ but, based on history, that inventory won’t last very long. We’ve probably reached the point where the fan who’s thinking season tickets needs to go ahead and make the purchase or risk not getting their full order filled,” said Pam Finke, the UI’s director of ticket operations, who also noted the UI can no longer fill requests for a three-game ticket package.

Finke said demand for Iowa’s other three home games – Purdue on Nov. 14, the season opener against Maine on Aug. 30, and the Hawkeyes’ date with Florida International on Sept. 6 – has been steady and will likely increase as the start of the 2008 season approaches.

Fans interested in purchasing tickets to the home games of the 2008 UI football team can do so online at hawkeyesports.com, the official world wide web site of the Iowa Hawkeyes, by phone at 1-800 IA-HAWKS, or over the counter at the UI Athletics Ticket Office location in Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
