IOWA CITY, Iowa – Kirk Ferentz meets the media today at 12:30 p.m. Iowa time to talk about his University of Iowa football team’s date Saturday with intrastate rival Iowa State at historic Kinnick Stadium. Game time is set for 11 a.m. Iowa time and, for the third straight week, will be televised live by the Big Ten Network.
Ferentz will undoubtedly talk about his two-deeps, a topic that is headlined by the move of Ricky Stanzi to starting quarterback, who played brilliantly in last Saturday’s victory over Florida International at Kinnick.
Iowa’s veteran coach will also likely field a few questions about his defense, which has been stout in its first two outings of the season and, perhaps, the Hawkeyes’ schedule, a slate that will include three straight and four of five at home to open the season.
And, of course, he’ll be asked about the rivalry that is Iowa vs. Iowa State. The game will be the second in the 2008 Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series competition. Iowa’s volleyball team squares off against Iowa State in Ames on Friday night to open this year’s battle for braggin’ rights.
BLACKOUT SATURDAY
Saturday’s game against Iowa State is this year’s “Blackout Saturday” game. All fans of the Hawkeyes are encouraged to show their support for the UI by wearing black and be proud and loud at Kinnick! |
