Sept. 8, 2008

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The following are just some of the recommendations the UI Department of Intercollegiate Athletics has for fans attending this year’s Iowa-Iowa State college football game at historic Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City.

Fans are strongly encouraged to review the game-day policies and procedures fan guide available on the Game Day Central page inside hawkeyesports.com, the official world wide web site of the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Leave Early…Bring Your Tickets
All fans attending the game are strongly encouraged to begin their trip to historic Kinnick Stadium on the campus of the University of Iowa early. Traffic is always extremely heavy and while there isn’t significant construction going on in the immediate area around Kinnick or the Iowa City/Coralville community, traffic into the area will be congested. And don’t leave for Iowa City without checking to make certain you have your game tickets. The UI Athletics Ticket Office can not duplicate game tickets on game day.

Parking Map
Fans are reminded that there is no single-game parking available in the areas immediately near Kinnick Stadium. Please visit uifootballparking.com for a comprehensive map of game-day parking options.

Hawkeye Express
One of the best way to solve your parking problem is to let the UI do the driving by riding the Hawkeye Express. You park for free and ride to and from the game by train. The Hawkeye Express depot is located near the International House of Pancakes (IHOP) at the corner of US Highway 6 and 26th Avenue in Coralville – just five minutes off Interstate 80. More information about the Hawkeye Express can be found by visiting the Game Day Central page.

Olive Court No Longer
Longtime privately-owned game-day parking option “Olive Court” is no longer. The property located just two blocks from Kinnick has been sold and is not being used for football game-day parking. Fans who have used this option in the past should consider using the parking and tailgating opportunity at the UI’s Finkbine Golf Course just two blocks west of Kinnick Stadium.

Enter Kinnick Early
Fans are advised to make their way to their seats in Kinnick Stadium approximately 30 minutes before kickoff. By doing so, you give yourself the best chance to enjoy the pre-game show and to see kickoff.

Consume Responsibility
All fans attending the game and tailgating before, during and after are encourage to do so responsibly.
