COLUMBIA, MO – – The Iowa women’s golf team finished 10th at the Johnnie Imes tournament. The Hawkeyes turned in a team score of 317 (+29) for the final round of play Tuesday. The University of Mississippi took the tournament title with a three round total of 900.
Leading the team Tuesday were senior Becky Quinby and junior Alison Cavanaugh. Both Hawkeyes fired 78’s over the final 18 holes. Quinby finished 26th individually (+16, 232) and Cavanaugh tied for 29th place (+18, 234). Senior Tyrette Metzendorf (+12, 228) recorded the best overall score for the Hawkeyes and tied for 14th.
Laura Cilek (+ 25, 241) and Chelsea Harris (+36, 252) also posted the same score Tuesday, as each shot 82. Harris, a freshman from Normal, Illinois, improved her place on the leader board seven spots to tie for 71st. Cilek finished tied for 51st.
Next up for Iowa’s women’s golf team is its home tournament this Saturday and Sunday. Tee times for the 15 team Hawkeye Invitational begin at 8 a.m. both days.
