Iowa Head Coach Lisa Bluder

On today’s game
“I thought it was a good game for us. I liked how we held our composure in the second half, when they came back at us and we were just able to regroup and take off from there. We shot the ball extremely well in the first half and I think we did a great job on the boards in this game.”

On rebounding
“Well we needed to come back with a good rebounding effort after the Kansas game because we didn’t box out well. I’m happy with our offensive rebounding as well. We had 11 out of 25 opportunities to get offensive rebounds, that’s almost half of them and so that’s a really good job of crashing the boards as well.”

On playing more zone defense
“We played more zone than I would have liked to. I thought it was the best defense to use today against Boston. Also with our numbers being a little bit down on the inside, we picked three quick fouls on the inside players. I thought we really didn’t have a choice but to go that route. Luckily, they shot the ball decently from three-point range, they shot thirty percent, but not great. Also I liked what we did at the free throw line today. We shot 30 free throws compared to their 9.”

On balance of point scoring
“We had four people in doubles figures, almost a fifth with Kelly (Krei) at eight points. But I like that even distribution of the points so that was very good to see.”

On improvements to make for tomorrow
“We have to take care of the ball better. We had 22 turnovers and it resulted in 23 of their points. We’ve got to do a better job. I thought there were a lot of unforced errors today. We had two travels that I can remember. We had an offensive charge, two five-second counts and just passing out of bounds. Those are just things we should not be doing. I know it’s early and we’re going to get better at it as the season goes on.”
