Columbus, IN – – The Iowa women’s golf team is tied for third place after shooting 635 through the first two rounds at the Indiana Invitational. The Hawkeyes, tied with Texas and Michigan, are just two strokes from second place Iowa State and nine from UNLV, leader of the tournament with 626. Iowa shed nine strokes off a first round score of 322, shooting 313 the second 18 holes.
Iowa seniors Becky Quinby and Tyrette Metzendorf continued to lead the Hawkeyes carding 156 (+12) each and tying for 10th. Freshman Chelsea Harris followed closely, shooting 15 over (159). Harris will go into tomorrow’s competition tied for 20th individually. Laura Cilek (T48, +23) and Alison Cavanaugh (T71, +31) carded 167, 175, respectively. Lauren Forbes traveled with the team to compete as an individual. Forbes shot 169 (+25) and finished the day tied for 56th.
The Hawkeyes’ third place standing today is their best finish after 36-holes this spring. Competition will reconvene Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. when the final 18 holes will be played followed by an awards ceremony. Live stats can be found at Golfstat.com.
