Hawkeyes Selected To Compete in NCAA Qualifers

IOWA CITY –

The University of Iowa men’s gymnastics team was selected to compete in the 2009 National Collegiate Men’s Gymnastics National Qualifier Tuesday, by the NCAA Men’s Gymnastics Committee.

The qualifier will be held April 16 in Minneapolis, MN, and will be hosted by the University of Minnesota at the Sports Pavilion at 1 p.m. It includes two pre-qualifying sessions in which three teams, three all-around competitors, and three individual event competitors will compete to advance to the NCAA finals April 17-18.

Competing teams include Stanford, Oklahoma, Illinois, Michigan, California, Ohio State, Minnesota, Penn State, Nebraska, Illinois-Chicago and Navy.

The Hawkeyes were selected for the qualifier in 2008, posting a fifth place finish with a final score of 339.85.
