Minneapolis, MN –
Hawkeye Senior Geoff Reins earned his third all-American selection Saturday after his performance in the 2009 NCAA Individual Event Finals.
Reins placed second on the event, behind Oklahoma’s Steven Legendre, with a final score of 16.30. He earned all-American status in 2006 on floor competition and in 2007 on vault.
“He had a fantastic competition,” said Hawkeye Head Coach Tom Dunn. “He hit three really good vaults to stay in there until the end. Most people in the audience thought he won the meet, but unfortunately not all the judges agreed. He had a great career with Iowa. It was a good finish for him; we will be hard pressed to replace him next year.”
Individual Results:
Vault (winner plus Iowa)
1. Steve Legendre (Oklahoma) 16.325
2. Geoff Reins (Iowa) 16.300
