Meet The Future: Dana Dalrymple

May 11, 2009

IOWA CITY, IA – It’s about an eight-hour drive from Cincinnati, OH, to Iowa City, but it was hardly factor for future Hawkeye Dana Dalrymple.

For the last four years, Dalrymple has honed her soccer skills playing for Anderson (H.S.) in southeast Cincinnati. As a freshman, Dalrymple was named Anderson’s Most Improved Player. In addition, she was a first team all-conference (Fort Ancient Valley Conference) selection and a Division I first team all-Southwest Ohio selection as a sophomore, junior and senior. On the field, she helped lead Anderson to two conference championships (2005, 2006), three straight district championships (2005-2007) and a sectional championship in 2008.

Like most of the other players in Iowa’s 2009 recruiting class, Iowa Head Coach Ron Rainey loves Dalrymple’s combination of athleticism and versatility.

“Dana has good speed and an ability to play all over the field,” Rainey said. “She has played at a very high level. As she gains confidence training with our team, I feel she will have an excellent first year.”

Dalyrmple has played club soccer with the Cardinals Soccer Club for seven years, as well as the Ohio Elite Soccer Academy for two years.
