Jake Owen is opening act for 2009 FRYFest

June 3, 2009

CORALVILLE, Iowa — Jake Owen is scheduled to open the FRYFest concert at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 4.

Following Owen will be The Outlaws and then The Charlie Daniels Band performing as the headliner.

Owen is nominated for two Country Music Television (CMT) Music Awards for the song “Life in a Northern Town.” The song has been nominated for Collaborative Video and CMT Performance of the Year.

Owen released his second studio album, Easy Does It, on Feb. 24, 2009. The album debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Top Country albums and No. 13 on the Billboard 200. The lead single to the album, “Don’t Think I Can’t Love You” became Owen’s first top five country hit, reaching No. 2 on the Hot Country Songs chart in April, 2009.

Tickets for the FRY Fest concert are $10 and are on sale at www.FRYFest.com.

Proceeds will benefit the annual Coralville 4th Fest celebrations.

The southern rock flavor of this year’s lineup is a tribute to former University of Iowa head football coach, Hayden Fry’s southern roots. Fry — Iowa’s winningest football coach — will be recognized in this inaugural year and the annual festival — which will occur on the Friday before each season’s first home football game — is named in his honor.

In recognition of Fry’s 143 victories, the FRYFest committee is coordinating 143 Harley-Davidson motorcycles to ride into the FRYFest Hawkeye Pep Rally. If you or someone you know would like to be a part of this recognition, please call (319-626-8286) or email (sales@bravosportsmarketing.com) Danny at Bravo Sports Marketing to reserve a spot.
