IOWA CITY, IA – Starting times for seven of the first eight University of Iowa football games have been set. The announcement came today from the Big Ten Conference. And, at least three of the games will be televised by either ABC or ESPN.
The Hawkeyes open the season at home Sept. 5th against Northern Iowa with kickoff slated for 11 a.m. (CT) on the Big Ten Network. Iowa travels to Iowa State the next week for an 11 a.m. start on the Fox Sports Cable Network. The Sept. 19th contest against Arizona will begin at 2:30 p.m. on ABC and/or ESPN2.
Iowa begins it 2009 conference schedule at Penn State, Sept. 26th. The game will be televised on either ABC or ESPN with a 7 p.m. kickoff. The Hawkeyes host Michigan Oct. 10th in a 7 p.m. homecoming game televised on ABC or ESPN. The Oct. 17th contest at Wisconsin will begin at 11 a.m. on a yet to be determined TV network. Iowa’s game at Michigan State, on Oct. 24th, will begin at 6 p.m. on the Big Ten Network.
The only Iowa game, in the first eight, not to have an announced starting time or a televising network is the Oct. 3rd home contest against Arkansas State. Starting times and television for Hawkeye games in late October and November will be announced after the season begins.
