IOWA CITY, IA – – Two University of Iowa men’s tennis players, Patrick Dwyer and Reinoud Haal, received the inaugural Big Ten Distinguished Scholar Award. The award is given to student-athletes who have earned a minimum-grade-point average (GPA) of 3.7 or higher for the previous academic year. Haal earned a perfect 4.0 GPA the past year.

Dwyer, a marketing major from Franksville, WI, and Haal, a finance major from Heemstede, Netherlands, will both be seniors this fall.

“I am very proud of both Patrick and Reinoud,” said Head Coach Steve Houghton. “They have been highly successful both on and off the court and have been great representatives of our program.”
