DL Broderick Binns
On blocking the first field goal at the end…
“It was definitely us bending and not breaking. The coach told us to give everything we had and I got myself in there and put my hands up and the ball came right to my hands. Jeremiha told everyone that the kicker kicks the ball low and to just get our hands up there and that’s what I did.”

On getting their spirits up after thinking they won after the first blocked kick…
“It was just bending and not breaking. It was awhile that we had to wait but we had to set up and make the play and that’s what we did.”

QB Ricky Stanzi
On how the team came out today…
“We had one great half of our offense but we need to improve because we can’t just expect to play one good half and win. When we did need to step up the offense did a good job. The defense was solid the whole game and we jus t need to put more points on the board to help them out.”

On having Moeaki back out on the field…
“It was great having him out there because he brings a lot of versatility; not only on the passing team but he is a heck of a blocker. It’s nice to run behind him when I get the chance.”

On getting a second chance…
“I don’t really know the rules but that was pretty crazy way to end the game; I have never seen anything like that. Both kicks being blocked is hats off to our guys because that is something that does not happen very often. I give all the credit in the world and they are great football team. They definitely came to play today.”

On what changed for the first half to the second half…
“I think once we got our game plan down and what we wanted to do we were more consistent with what we wanted in the running and passing game and then things started to settled down for me. “

TE Tony Moeaki
On him and Stanzi’s chemistry…
“Since the bowl game we have been working every day on our own throughout the season and Coach O’Keefe has been calling the plays and we were just doing what we were told to do.”

On the tough game…
“We knew it was going to be a battle but the score is probably just as surprising to everyone. We have a lot of work to do.”

On emotions going through his head at the end…
“I was nervous and after the first kick you usually don’t see it twice in a row. So the first one had confidence, but the second one… I’m not going to lie, I was nervous. They did a great job of blocking that’s all.”

LB Pat Angerer
“We need to work on everything on defense. This was our first game and we played against a great offense. The key is just to go back, watch tape and improve.”

“Next week is going to be a tough game. We can enjoy this win a little bit, but Iowa State is going to be a great team and they are always ready to fight. I think they’re looking forward to it and I know we are.”

“They’re a good team. And you know what, we won [so we can enjoy it]. That is one of the best offenses we will see all year. They are a national championship team, whether its FCS or FBS, they’re a national team.”

On the blocked kick…
“I can’t believe that just happened. It was crazy. I kind of knew they were going to get another chance at it. We tried to stay loose and when Jeremiha blocked it, I just wanted to jump on top of it and end it. I’m lucky I didn’t kick it into the end zone or something.”

LB Jeremiha Hunter
“I was definitely more motived to get that second block. We feel like this is our year and we didn’t play how we wanted to, but luckily we got a second chance. I was praying the whole time and it must have helped because we got the win.”

On the second block…
“We knew that he was kicking the ball real low so I just told the defensive linemen to put their hands up and give it all they got. This was a big game. We needed to win because you always want to get that first one.”
