Ferentz Live Today

Sept. 8, 2009

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The nationally ranked University of Iowa football team will look for a sweep of intrastate rivals this weekend when it travels to Ames Saturday for an 11 a.m. Iowa time date with Iowa State.

It’s hard to say which game the media will quiz Kirk Ferentz more about today at 12:30 p.m. when the Hawkeyes’ head coach stages his weekly media conference. Will they be more curious about Ferentz’s thoughts on the Hawkeyes’ 17-16 victory over Northern Iowa last Saturday at Kinnick or this year’s battle for the Cy-Hawk Trophy inside Jack Trice Stadium, a place that hasn’t been too kind to Ferentz and his squads?

Iowa carries a five-game winning streak into Ames, a mark that currently ranks seventh best in the nation with Texas and Nebraska. The Hawkeyes, however, haven’t won in Ames since claiming a 40-21 victory in 2003.
