Second Round Suspended Due to Darkness at Johnnie Imes Invitational

COLUMBIA, MO — The University of Iowa women’s golf team competed in the Johnnie Imes Invitational. The Hawkeyes fired a 320 in the first 18 holes but due to darkness, only got through 17 holes in the second round before the tournament was suspended. Iowa is in 15th place out of 18 teams. Tulsa is leading the tournament with a 301.

Freshman Kristi Cardwell and sophomore Chelsea Harris led the team in the first complete round firing a 77 (+5). Junior Brianna Coopman shot an 82 (+10). Junior Laura Cilek and freshman Gigi DiGrazia both recorded an 84 (+12) on the first 18 holes.

Thus far in the second round, Coopman is the only Hawkeye to finish, scoring another 82 (+10). The other four Hawkeyes competing will pickup from the 17th hole Tuesday. Cardwell is leading the way, currently only one shot over par.

The tournament will conclude Tuesday with the completion of the second round and third round. The tournament will start at 8 a.m.
