WEST LAFAYETTE, IN – – The University of Iowa men’s tennis team completed competition Sunday at the Purdue Fall Invitational. The tournament format included two singles flights and one doubles flight in double elimination format. Teams competing along with the Hawkeyes included Marquette, Purdue, Butler and Eastern Illinois.
In the consolation semifinals of Flight A, Austen Kauss fell to Marquette’s J. G. Crowley, 3-6, 6-3, 10-1. Mitch Beckert, competing in the consolation semifinal of Flight B, lost to Stephen McLoughlin of Butler, 3-6, 6-2, 10-4.
After winning two matches Saturday, Kauss and Tom Mroziewicz were unable to advance Sunday in the doubles flight. The duo fell to P.J. Rose and Eric Ramos of Purdue in the semifinals, 8-3.
The Hawkeyes will compete next at the ITA Regional in Tulsa, OK, Oct. 22-26.
