IOWA CITY – The University of Iowa women’s golf team finished in fifth in its annual Hawkeye Invitational at Finkbine Golf Course Sunday afternoon. The Hawkeyes shot a 932 as a team (306-313-313, +68). Missouri State, carding a 914 (+50), won the 13-team tournament.
Iowa was led by junior Laura Cilek and freshman Kristi Cardwell, both placing in the top 15 individually. Cilek fired a 77 in the second and 76 in the third to finish up in 12th place with a 231 (+15). While Cardwell shot a 79 in the third round and tied for 13th (233, +17).
Junior Brianna Coopman (236, +20) finished up tied for 19th, recording an 80 the final round. Sophomore Chelsea Harris shot a 237 (+21) and junior Lauren Forbes carded a 78 in the final round to close with a 240 (+24). Freshman Gigi DiGrazia and senior Alison Cavanaugh competed as individuals. DiGrazia recorded a 251 (+35) while Cavanaugh ended up with a 263 (+47).
The Hawkeyes final fall competition will be Nov. 2-3 at the Challenge at Onion Creek in Austin, TX.
