Iowa No. 7 in AP Top 25

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The Iowa Hawkeyes climbed to No. 7 in the weekly Associated Press Top 25 for college football following its 20-10 victory over Wisconsin Saturday in Madison. Iowa accumulated 1,092 points as the highest ranked Big Ten Conference team.

Alabama pushed past Florida for the top position. Texas, Southern Cal and Cincinnati completed the top five. Boise State was at No. 5 with Miami (Fla.), LSU and Texas Christian completing the top 10.

Penn State at No. 13 and Ohio State at No 18 were the only other Big Ten teams to be included in this week’s list. Iowa also moved up to No. 8 in this week’s USA Today Top 25 which features voting from college football coaches across the country.

Iowa will likely be ranked in the first Bowl Championship Series standings of the season when each are announced later today.

Iowa, winners of seven in a row in 2009, and 11 games spanning the past two seasons, travel to Michigan State on Saturday. That game will be televised live by the Big Ten Network at 6 p.m. Iowa time.
