TULSA, OK – – The University of Iowa men’s tennis team completed day three of competition Saturday at the Wilson/ITA Central Regional Championships.
Tommy McGeorge fell in the round of 32 in the main singles draw. The senior was defeated by Dmitry Lebedev of Arkansas, 6-0, 6-1.
Five Hawkeyes (Marc Bruche, Nikita Zotov, Reinoud Haal, Tom Mroziewicz, Will Vasos) competed in the singles back draw. Bruche, Zotov and Haal each won two matches and will continue competition Sunday in the back draw.
In doubles play, the duo of McGeorge and Vasos fell in the quarterfinals. The pair lost to Aumueller/Lindheim of Nebraska, 8-4.
The Hawkeyes will continue play tomorrow at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center in Tulsa, OK. Competition is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. CT.
