Iowa Up, Down in Top 25's

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The unbeaten University of Iowa football team moved up one and back one in this week’s national Top 25 polls.

The Hawkeyes, unbeaten in its first nine games of 2009 and winners of 13 in a row dating back to the 2008 regular season, moved past Cincinnati into sixth place in the USA Today Top 25. Iowa is the highest ranked Big Ten Conference team with Penn State (10th), Ohio State (12th) and Wisconsin (22nd) also among the teams listed.

Florida remained No. 1 in the coaches poll, but Texas crept past Alabama for the No. 2 position. Texas Christian and Boise State complete the top five.

Iowa slipped to No. 8 in the Associated Press Top 25 as result of Oregon’s move into the No. 7 slot. AP’s top five matched that of USA Today. Penn State (11th), Ohio State (15th) and Wisconsin (24th) were also among the teams ranked.

The Hawkeyes entertain Northwestern Saturday. Game time inside historic Kinnick Stadium is set for 11 a.m. Iowa time. ESPN will provide live national television coverage.
