Harris Cards Season Low in Round One

AUSTIN, TX — The University of Iowa women’s golf team finished day one in 20th place at the Onion Creek Challenge in Austin, TX. Only one round was completely finished Monday night, the second round was suspended due to darkness and will resume tomorrow. San Francisco leads the 21 team field, shooting a 265 (-15).

Sophomore Chelsea Harris led the Hawkeyes in round one, shooting a season-low 71 (+1). Harris’ first round score is the lowest of any Hawkeye this season.

Juniors Laura Cilek and Brianna Coopman both carded a 77 (+7) in round one to tie for 83rd. Junior Lauren Forbes recorded a 79 in the first 18 holes (+7). Freshman Kristi Cardwell rounded out the Hawkeyes with an 81 (+11).

Iowa will resume tomorrow at 8:30 a.m. to finish round two and are scheduled play the final 18 holes directly after.
