IOWA CITY, IA – University of Iowa junior offensive lineman Julian Vandervelde has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine/COSIDA Academic all-District Seven second all-America team. Vandervelde is a religious studies and English major boasting a 3.47 GPA.
This marks the second time the Davenport, IA, native has earned the honor; he was recognized on the academic all-district first team a year ago. He is also a two-time academic all-conference honoree.
The 6-3, 300-pounder has played in eight games this year at offensive guard for the Hawkeyes, playing both the left and right guard spots.
The Iowa Hawkeyes host Northwestern Saturday at 11 a.m. in Kinnick Stadium. The game will be televised to a national cable audience on ESPN (HD).
