IOWA CITY, Iowa – The visiting team – Washburn – took a 2-0 lead in its exhibition game with the University of Iowa women’s basketball team. The rest of the game was all Hawkeyes.

Lisa Bluders’s bunch raced to a 41-21 halftime lead, powered in great measure by 7-of-9 shooting from behind the three-point line, en route to an 88-60 victory. Senior Kachine Alexander led all scorers with 25 points. Kamille Wahlin added 18 and Kelly Krei 12.

The Hawkeyes sank 52 percent of its field goal attempts including a blistering 63 percent of their three-pointers.

Hope Gregory paced Washburn with 16 points and eight rebounds. The visitors shot just 37 percent from the field and only 34 percent from behind the arc.

Alexander and Morgan Johnson added seven rebounds for the Hawkeyes, who will now begin preparations for their season opener next Saturday against Santa Clara in first round action of the 2009 KCRG-TV9 Hawkeye Challenge.

Iowa took its first double-digit lead of the game when Wahlin sank one of her four triples to put the Hawkeyes up 26-16 with 6:11 left in the opening stanza. The lead reached 18 when Trisha Nesbit dropped the second of two free throws at the 2:22 mark to push the score to 36-18.

Ten different Hawkeyes saw action including highly-touted freshman Jamie Printy. The Cedar Rapids native scored eight points and added six assists in 24 minutes.
