Iowa Head Coach Lisa Bluder
Opening remarks…
“I credit Boston College for a good game tonight. I feel like we had an opportunity to tie the game at the end and that’s what you want. We had an opportunity and you want to be in that situation. Our defense and our box-outs have got to improve. At the same time, I’m so proud of our players and the type of effort that they continue to give us every single game. This is a Boston College team that returned five starters. Here we are, starting two sophomores and three freshmen. If you just looked at this game on paper, we were totally outmatched. I know my players will never give up. They will fight hard and I am extremely, extremely proud of their effort that they continue to give us and the positive effort that they have.”
On the Iowa’s resilience…
“We were 14 points down and within four minutes we had the game tied up. We elevated our defense. We intensified our defense and made a great run at them. Now we have to get in a situation where we don’t get ourselves into holes that we have to work out of.”
On taking the last shot of the game…
“I think when it comes to close games, as a player you’re excited and you’re not going to back down from those opportunities to take a last shot. Unfortunately it didn’t go in tonight. At the end of games you have to remain confident. Sometimes the ball goes in and sometimes it doesn’t.
