Iowa Completes Day Two Short Course Nationals

FEDERAL WAY, WA- The University of Iowa women’s swimming team finished its second day of competition at the ConocoPhillips Short Course National Championship. The Hawkeyes are in 23rd place after two days of competition.

Iowa started off the meet with the 4×50 medley relay. The team of sophomore Danielle Carty, junior Katarina Tour, junior Daniela Cubelic and senior Christine Kuczek placed 13th at finals. The girls posted a time of 1:44.15.

Hicks and Kuczek both swam the 200 free at prelims. Hicks placed 47th with a time of 1:51.12, while Kuczek came in 62nd (1:62.10). Tour placed 49th at prelims in the 100 breast. She posted a time of 1:05.35.

Carty placed 20th in the 100 back at finals, moving up one spot from prelims. She recorded a season best time of 55.64. Cubelic and freshman Sarah Galvin swam the 100 back at prelims. Cubelic placed 23rd and posted a time of 55.97, while Galvin placed 53rd (57.67).

The Hawkeyes concluded the second day of competition with the 4×200 free relay.

The competition will wrap-up tomorrow. Prelims start at 11 a.m. central time and finals will start at 7 p.m. central time.
