FedEx Orange Bowl 'Patch' Available

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes who are travelling to Miami for the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl and fans who are not each have reason to celebrate the Hawkeyes’ second invitation to a Bowl Championship Series event with the purchase of “The Patch.”

The Patch is an exact replica of the patch that will be sewn onto the Hawkeyes’ game-day jerseys and, as such, is the perfect souvenir of Iowa’s visit to The Sunshine State. It’s also a ticket to select UI men’s and women’s basketball games and, for those fans who will be following the team to Miami, a coupon good for savings on tickets for two events that are part of the Fed Ex Orange Bowl’s Festival of Events.

Fans can purchase their Patch for $10 at the following retail locations in Iowa beginning Monday (Dec. 14):

? GameDay Iowa (Coralville)

Fans who present their Patch at the UI Athletics Ticket Office at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on game day will receive one complimentary ticket with the purchase of a full-price general public ticket to the following UI men’s and women’s basketball events:

Fans following the Hawkeyes to Miami for the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl against Georgia Tech on Jan. 5 can save $5 on admission to the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl Fan Fest on Jan. 4 and to the Budweiser FedEx Orange Bowl Tailgate Party on game day.

Don’t miss the last chance to celebrate Iowa’s participation in the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl before game day at the Official Pep Rally of Bowl Championship Series event. Enjoy a day of giveaways, interactive games for all ages and exquisite food and drinks. The day will be filled with live music, school spirit and appearances of former players from both schools.

The Orange Bowl Fan Fest is one of the most anticipated events during the Orange Bowl Festival. South Florida natives and out-of-town supporters have a chance to mingle in Downtown Miami with music, food and fun under the sun. Spectators at this year’s Fan Fest will be treated to live performances by local artists while closing out the night with Grammy Award-winning “Kool and the Gang.”

Held the day before the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl game, the event will not only enhance the image, economy, and culture of South Florida, but will also showcase the former players, bands, cheerleaders, and mascots of the participating teams in the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl. It will be the perfect event for a day of great music and family fun for visitors of the Orange Bowl Festival.

Each year college football fans from all over the country kick-off the FedEx Orange Bowl game day with the Budweiser Tailgate Party. This year, fans of the Iowa Hawkeyes can join in the fun.

Staged in the Northwest Parking Lot of Land Shark Stadium, the Tailgate Party annually features some of Miami’s hottest local talent, interactive games, sports memorabilia, contests, delicious food, and a wide variety of beverages. The Hawkeye Marching Band will also make an appearance as well as Herky and the Iowa spirit squads.
