Jan. 4, 2010

IOWA CITY – University of Iowa guard Jaime Printy has been named co-Big Ten Freshman of the Week, for her efforts against Wisconsin and Minnesota last week. Printy shares the award with Karisma Penn of Illinois.

Printy led the Hawkeyes in a win over Wisconsin and a tough overtime loss at Minnesota, averaging 19.0 points, 5.0 assists and 3.5 rebounds per game last week. The freshman contributed a career high 26 points, including a perfect 8-8 mark at the free-throw line, against the Golden Gophers on Sunday. Printy also recorded three assists and two boards in the effort. On Thursday vs. the Badgers, she tallied 12 points with seven assists and five rebounds.

This is the second time Printy has been named Big Ten Freshman of the Week. She received the award Nov. 30, after a stellar performance against William & Mary, and an impressive two-game stretch at the Nugget Classic in Reno, NV.

Printy and the Hawkeyes return to action Thursday at Michigan. Tip-off is scheduled for 6 p.m., and can be seen live on BigTenNetwork.com.
