Recap | Box Score

Head Coach Lisa Bluder
Opening Statement
“This was a tough one for us to lose. We had the nine point lead with nine and a half minutes to go and we couldn’t hang on defensively. First half we played really well defensively, we held them to 24 points. The second half we gave up 44 points. At halftime we were tied rebounding, second half we were negative nine rebounding. Penn State picked up their intensity a lot and we did not match that. They played more intense the last 10 minutes going down the stretch than we did. That is a little bit disheartening. Jaime again had a really good game for us. She’s doing such a good job of hitting the three’s and attacking the basket. Kash had 13 rebounds again, and it’s nice to see her getting that many rebounds. We need other people to get rebounds for us and hopefully that will happen pretty soon.”

Transition Game in the Second Half
“Penn State is a very good transition team. Last time we played them we really kept their transition in check. This time we were not able to. That’s how they scored most of the time in the first half. Halftime we talked about if we could just take care of the transition we would be alright. Obviously we had a really hard time stopping them.”

Dribble Penetration
“It didn’t matter if we were in man or zone; they were able to get the ball in the paint pretty easily against us in the second half. In the first half we actually won that statistic. “

Lapses
“I wish I could put my finger on a magic cure. In the first half we went six minutes without a field goal and missed five free throws. We turned the ball over quite a few times. We have to continue to work on fundamentals. Any time you are in a losing streak you have to look at fundamentals and getting better at the fundamentals.”

20, Kelly Krei
Penn State Run
“I think that it was loss of focus, that’s what we need to change for our next game. We need to play the full 40 instead of 37.”

24, Jaime Printy
Spurts in scoring
“We play really good for a certain amount of time then we have a minute where we lose focus and do stupid turnovers. I think we need to work on putting a full game together and play both halves the way we know how to play.”

Transition
“Last game we did a lot better in transition defense than this game. Obviously they love to push the ball and that hurt us.”
