Iowa defeated Illinois, 74-65, Thursday night in Champaign. The Hawkeyes improve to 9-10 overall and 2-6 in Big Ten play. Illinois falls to 11-7 and 3-5 in conference action. Thursday’s win was Iowa’s first road win in the Big Ten this season.

Iowa improves to 45-16 in the all-time series. The Hawkeyes have won 42 of the last 49 meetings, including 10 of the last 11. Iowa is now 19-10 in games played at Illinois, and has won the last six matchups at Assembly Hall.

The Hawkeyes were led by Jaime Printy, who scored 22 points, along with four rebounds, four assists and tied a career high with two steals. She was also a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line, and scored 14 points in the second half. Kelly Krei (13), Kamille Wahlin (12), Morgan Johnson (11) and Kachine Alexander (10) also scored double figures. Johnson also added a career high three steals.

Thursday’s game marks the first time all season that five players scored in double figures. The last time Iowa had four players in double digits was Dec. 22 against South Dakota State. Jaime Printy led the way with 18 points, Kamille Wahlin had 17, Kelly Krei added 12 and Morgan Johnson scored 11 against the Jackrabbits.

Kachine Alexander collected her seventh double-double of the season Thursday at Illinois. Alexander scored 10 points and recorded 12 rebounds. Alexander now has 16 career double-doubles. Thursday was Alexander’s first double-double since Jan. 7 (at Michigan).

Iowa’s shooting percentage of .510 (25-49) is the best figure for the Hawkeyes since shooting .519 (28-54) at Northern Iowa Nov. 22.

The Hawkeyes return to Iowa City Sunday to host the Northwestern Wildcats. Tip-off at Carver-Hawkeye Arena is scheduled for 4 p.m., and the game can be seen live on both KCRG-TV9 and www.BigTenNetwork.com.
