IOWA CITY, IA – University of Iowa Head Men’s Tennis Coach Steve Houghton announced that Joey White has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the University of Iowa and has begun practice with the team.
White graduated from Cedar Rapids Kennedy High School in December and enrolled at Iowa for the spring semester.
He had a stellar career at Kennedy, both on the court and in the classroom, culminating in a second place finish in singles at the state tournament last May. White is also a highly-ranked USTA player, both in the Missouri Valley section and nationally.
“Joey is already an accomplished player, but his best days are ahead of him,” said Houghton. “He is very athletic and is capable of playing a big game. We are very happy to have him join our program.”
The Hawkeyes open the 2010 season Saturday at Baylor University. The match is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
