Hawkeyes Crack Top 25 in National Attendance

Feb. 22, 2010

IOWA CITY, IA – The University of Iowa volleyball program ranked 23rd nationally in attendance last season. The Hawkeyes averaged a school-record 1,632 fans in 13 home contests. Iowa has set season attendance records in each of Sharon Dingman’s two years as head volleyball coach.

“Hawkeye fans are among the best in the country,” said Dingman. “Carver-Hawkeye Arena is a unique venue for volleyball and our fans’ continued support has turned our home court into a very difficult environment for opposing teams. It has become one of the toughest places to play in the Big Ten.”

The Hawkeyes topped the 3,000 mark for the first time in program history Nov. 11 when 3,102 fans saw Iowa host three-time defending NCAA champion Penn State. Since Dingman joined the program in 2008, the Hawkeyes have experienced eight of the school’s top 10 all-time attendance records.
