Records Fall at Big Ten Championships

COLUMBUS, OH – The University of Iowa men’s swimming team currently sits in sixth place after Day One of the Big Ten Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion. Through two relay events, the Hawkeyes have totaled 48 points. The University of Michigan leads the championships with 80 points.

Iowa’s Jordan Huff, Paul Gordon, Duncan Partridge and Brian Farris set a school-record in the 800 freestyle relay. The Hawkeye quartet raced to a fourth-place finish in 6:27.66, topping the previous school record by nearly two seconds. Michigan won 800 freestyle relay with a Big Ten record time of 6:15.80.

The Hawkeye quartet of Max Dittmer, Ryan Phelan, Gordon and Sean Hagan kicked off the championships with a ninth-place finish in the 200 medley relay (1:29.02).
