IOWA CITY, Iowa — The price of a season ticket to the home games of the University of Iowa football team will increase for the first time in three years, UI Athletics Department officials announced today.
The cost of a season ticket for the general public will increase $3 per game to $360. The cost of a season ticket for a member of the UI faculty or staff will increase just over $2 per game to $290. The cost of a season ticket for current UI students will increase $2 per game to $168.
The Hawkeyes play seven home games in 2010. The schedule includes nonconference games against Eastern Illinois (Sept. 4), Iowa State (Sept. 11) and Ball State (Sept. 25) before games against Big Ten Conference rivals Penn State (Oct. 2), Wisconsin (Oct. 23), Michigan State (Oct. 30) and Ohio State (Nov. 20).
On Monday, March 8, the UI Athletics Ticket Office will begin accepting renewal orders from fans who purchased general public or UI faculty/staff season tickets last season. Fans are encouraged to renew their season ticket order online.
During the week of Monday, March 22, fans who purchased season tickets a year ago but have not renewed their season ticket purchase online will receive a season ticket renewal form in the mail.
Beginning Monday, March 22, the UI Athletics Ticket Office will begin accepting season ticket orders from new customers. New customers must call the UI Athletics Ticket Office at 1-800-IA-HAWKS or visit the office located in Carver-Hawkeye Arena to open their account.
Current UI students will be invited to place their season ticket order during the first week of April. UI students who want to guarantee that they will have a seven-game season ticket are encouraged to place their season ticket order by Friday, May 7, the last business day of finals week.
The UI Athletics Ticket Office will again this year offer fans purchasing season tickets the opportunity to pay for their season ticket order in three equal installments, the first upon receipt of the order, the second by May 26 and the third by June 23.

Iowa sold more than 53,000 season tickets to the general public, UI faculty and staff, and current UI students for the 2009 season.
The UI will again also offer three-game “mini-packs.” These will go on sale in June. The details of that ticket option will be announced at that time.
If available, single game tickets will go on sale in early July. Single game tickets will cost $55 each for Iowa’s games against Eastern Illinois, Ball State and Michigan State, and $65 each for the Hawkeyes’ games against intrastate rival Iowa State in the annual Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series event, Penn State, Wisconsin and Ohio State.
A to-be-determined number of single-game youth tickets priced at $25 each will be available for Iowa’s games against Eastern Illinois and Ball State. A discount-priced ticket will be available for groups of 30 or more for the Hawkeyes’ games against Eastern Illinois, Ball State and Michigan State. “I’m comfortable with this year’s ticket price increase. Barta also noted that there is no increase in the cost of the Kinnick Stadium chairback or game-day parking fees for fans of the Hawkeyes. He also noted that the Hawkeye Express continues to grow in popularity and will once again be in operation this fall.
The Iowa football team is coming off a 2009 season that featured 11 wins including a victory over Georgia Tech in the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl. The Hawkeyes were ranked No. 7 in the final Associated Press and USA Today Top 25 polls, and will enter the 2010 ranked among the nation’s elite again.
