This year’s banquet will honor the 2009-10 student-athletes and celebrate 83 years of swimming in the Field House Pool. University of Iowa swimming and diving alumni will also be recognized at the event.
Admission to the banquet is $30 and includes a dinner buffet. Fans are encouraged to attend, but must RSVP by April 5. Tickets will not be available for purchase the day of the event. To purchase tickets contact Irene Pearson in the swimming and diving office (319) 335-9741.
Iowa’s Field House Pool was built in 1927 and was, at the time, the world’s largest indoor swimming pool. The pool has been the site of many national and international meets. The Alumni Meet April 17 will mark Iowa’s final competition in the Field House Pool. The meet is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
The Campus Recreation and Wellness Center (CRWC) will serve as the new home of the Hawkeyes beginning in 2010. The facility is located at the corners of Burlington and Madison streets. Construction began in the fall of 2007 and is to be completed in June 2010. The CRWC will include a 50-meter competition pool, a separate diving well, a leisure pool with lap lanes and 24,000 square feet of fitness space.
