Tiger Track Classic Live Results

Iowa City, IA – The University of Iowa track and field teams completed day one in a weekend of competition at the Tiger Track Classic hosted by Auburn University. Friday’s action consisted of the men’s and women’s hammer toss and javelin. Iowa’s youth in the field events didn’t hold them back, with multiple student-athletes placing high and putting their names in the Iowa record books.

Iowa took the men’s hammer toss, claiming the top three spots with sophomore Matt Banse (1st, 190-10, 58.17m), freshman Ben Stancombe (2nd, 183-8, 55.99m), and sophomore Ryan Lamparek (3rd, 176-6, 53.81m). All three are collegiate bests and Banse’s mark ranks seventh all-time at Iowa while Stancombe’s ranks tenth. Freshmen Tiffany Medenwaldt (10th, 160-11, 49.06m) and Majesty Tutson (14th, 156-9, 47.77m) made their outdoor collegiate debuts Friday, with Medenwaldt placing fourth in the Iowa record books and Tutson placing sixth. Freshman Matt Byers also made his collegiate debut Friday, placing second in the javelin (222-0, 67.66m) with a mark good enough to place him third all-time at Iowa. Veteran senior Zachary Schimp finished strongly in fifth (203-8, 62.07m).
