2013 — Indoor – did not compete… Outdoor – second team All-American, placing 14th at the NCAA Championships in the javelin (222-11, 67.96m)… placed second in javelin with a team-leading 237-8 (72.45m) at Big Ten Championships… won javelin at Musco Twilight XIV (234-8, 71.54m), placed seventh at NCAA West Preliminary (234-1, 71.34m), and second at Jim Click Shootout (233-8, 71.24m) and at Drake Relays (229-6, 69.96m)… letterwinner.

2012 — Indoor – did not compete… Outdoor – Big Ten javelin champion, winning third-straight title with a throw of 222-10 (67.94m)… placed 10th in javelin at NCAA Championships with a team-leading 237-6 (72.39m)… won javelin at Arkansas Spring Invite 223-3 (68.06m), placed fourth at Drake Relays (213-11, 65.20m) and 11th at NCAA West Preliminary (223-8, 68.18m)… letterwinner.

2011 — Indoor – did not compete… Outdoor – Big Ten javelin champion (235-4, 71.73m), helping team to first Big Ten title since 1967… set school javelin record with winning throw of 245-8 (74.89m) at LSU Invite… placed fourth in javelin at Drake Relays (223-5, 68.10m), third at Sun Angel Classic (207-11 1/2, 63.39m) and 19th at NCAA West Regional (211-4, 64.41m).

2010 — Indoor – did not compete… Outdoor- Big Ten Champion in the javelin (220-6, 67.22m)…first team all-Big Ten honoree…threw a collegiate-best 232-2 (70.76m) in his freshman debut…this ranks second all-time at Iowa…placed third at Drake Relays (205-8, 62.69m) and Musco Twilight XI (205-0 3/4, 62.50m)

High School — member of 2009 USA Pan-American team… two-time runner-up in javelin at USA Junior National Championships… two-time conference javelin champion, placing second at state meet twice… set school javelin record (219-8)… also lettered three years in basketball… coached by Brian Byers and Mike Draut.

Personal — born November 12, 1990… son of Brian and Debbie Byers… American studies major.
