Iowa City, IA – The University of Iowa track teams were in action Friday at the Lee Calhoun Memorial at Western Illinois University in Macomb, IL. Four student-athletes competed in the hammer toss and Iowa’s women’s team ended the day in 11th place with one point while the men are in 6th with 16 points. Marquette’s women’s team is currently in first with 49 points while Augustana leads the men’s teams with 51 points.
The women’s sole competitor Friday was Majesty Tutson, who finished eighth at 148-7 (45.29) earning a point for the women’s squad. Sophomore Matt Banse won the hammer toss for the second week in a row with a mark of 199-0 (60.66m). This is a collegiate-best and moves him up to sixth all-time at Iowa. Also competing was freshman Ben Stancombe (3rd, 171-4, 52.22m) and redshirt freshman Thomas Reynolds (15th, 144-6, 44.05m).
The remaining competitors will be in action Saturday at the Lee Calhoun Memorial and the Sun Angel Classic at Arizona State University in Tempe, AZ.
