IOWA CITY, IA – – The University of Iowa men’s tennis team lost to No. 32 Wisconsin Friday at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex, 5-2. The 72nd-ranked Hawkeyes fall to 10-8 overall and 2-5 in conference play with the loss.

“Wisconsin is another very strong Big Ten team,” said Head Coach Steve Houghton. “We played hard and it just wasn’t good enough. I was really proud of Will (Vasos) and Austen (Kauss) in terms of how hard they competed, which they have done all year.”

The Hawkeyes, 4-2 at home, were unable to claim the doubles point as the Badgers swept all three matches.

Will Vasos and Austen Kauss claimed singles victories for the Hawkeyes. Vasos downed Luke Rassow-Kantor 4-6, 7-5, 1-0, at the No. 4 position. The sophomore is 12-7 on the season. Kauss defeated Ricardo Martin 5-7, 6-2, 6-2, at the No. 6 spot. The junior is 10-5 overall and 4-2 in conference play.

The Black and Gold return to action Sunday against No. 53 Northwestern. The match is scheduled to begin at noon at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Complex. Admission is free.
