Calloway Heading to Buffalo

April 24, 2010

IOWA CITY, Iowa – – And the beat goes on for the University of Iowa and the 2010 NFL Draft with the latest call being made to offensive lineman Kyle Calloway, who was selected in the seventh round by the Buffalo Bills.

Calloway was a three-year starter for Hawkeyes, earning second team all-Big Ten honors in both 2008 and 2009, seasons that were marked by great success by the UI offense that resulted in victories in the 2009 Outback Bowl and the 2010 FedEx Orange Bowl.

Calloway is the sixth member of the 2009 Iowa squad to be selected in the 75th NFL Draft, the most under Kirk Ferentz and the best since the 1966 NFL Draft that was highlighted by the selection of John Niland by Dallas as the fifth overall selection.

The 6-foot-7, 315-pound product of Belleville, Ill., is the latest in a long line of offensive lineman coached by Ferentz that have advanced to the next level. That list includes Outland Trophy winner Robert Gallery and teammates Eric Steinbach, Bruce Nelson and Ben Sobieski taken in the 2003 draft. Sobieski was the last Hawkeye selected by Buffalo.
