The University of Iowa Athletics Department seeks applications for two assistant men’s gymnastics coaches. These are full-time, 12-month positions, salary commensurate and include full University benefits.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will assist in the coaching and administration of a Division I men’s intercollegiate gymnastics program on several levels; must possess the ability to facilitate, follow and evaluate training plans and cycles; productively conduct predefined daily workouts on all six events, tumbl trak, trampoline and strength; recruit as permitted by NCAA rules; coordinate setup and tear down of equipment and facilities for home competitions; and perform other duties as assigned by head coach.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) required.
Other required qualifications: Strong understanding of fundamentally sound basics and technical knowledge; spotting capability on all six events; at least three years of coaching experience with Level 10, Elite or NCAA Division I athletes; demonstrated knowledge of NCAA rules and a commitment to adhering to the policies, rules and regulations of the University of Iowa, the Big Ten Conference and the NCAA; demonstrated knowledge of FIG rules and routine construction; demonstrated experience working in a diverse environment; and effective communication, organizational, administrative and public relations skills necessary to conduct a successful Division I nationally competitive gymnastics program.
Preferred qualifications: Experience as a competitor or coach at the national or international level (e.g., Junior Olympic National Championships, USA National Championships or NCAA Championships); expertise in the maintenance, installation and purchase of gymnastics-specific apparatus and equipment; competency with multimedia applications and current software; and demonstrated comfort in an office environment. Preference will be given to candidates that most effectively meet the athletic development and recruiting needs of the men’s gymnastics program.
