IOWA CITY – University of Iowa junior Chris Brant is one in a group of Iowa golfers shining in amateur competition this summer. The Edwardsville, IL, native won the 7th Metropolitan East Side Amateur, before finishing tied for sixth at the 5th Metropolitan Open Championship less than a month later.
The 7th Metropolitan East Side Amateur was held at Belk Park Golf Course in the St. Louis area June 12-13. Brant fired an opening round one-under par 71 before shooting the tournament’s low round of 67 (-5), for a score of 138 (-6).
Brant followed the title up with a tie for sixth at the 5th Metropolitan Open Championship, held at the Country Club of St. Albans July 8-10. His opening round of 71 (+1) was followed by two rounds at one-under par 69 for a three round total of 209 (-1).
