UI ATHLETICS TICKET OFFICE UPDATE: Friday, July 30, 9 a.m.: The UI Athletics Ticket Office reports that ticket inventory for the Eastern Illinois and Ball State games is now very limited and the majority of seats are “single seats scattered throughout” Kinnick Stadium.
IOWA CITY, Iowa – The UI Athletics Ticket Office is now accepting orders for tickets to the home games of the nationally ranked University of Iowa football team against non-conference opponents Eastern Illinois and Ball State.
Fans can purchase up to four (4) tickets the Hawkeyes’ season opener against the Panthers of EIU scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 4, at historic Kinnick Stadium and Iowa’s against the Cardinals of BSU on Saturday, Sept. 25. Both games will kick off shortly after 11 a.m.
The tickets cost $55 for adults and $25 for boys and girls 18-years old and younger, and can be purchased online at hawkeyesports.com, over the phone by calling 1-800 IA-HAWKS, and in person at the UI Athletics Ticket Office’s temporary location inside the West Entrance of Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

The UI Athletics Department will celebrate National Varsity Club Day on Sept. 4 with an introduction of the 2010 class of inductees into the National Varsity Club UI Athletics Hall of Fame – a group that includes, among others, UI football player Bob Jeter, four-time wrestling all-American Mark Ironside, and Anthuan Maybank, a four-time track all-American and the 1993 Big Ten Athlete of the Year – in addition to celebrating the members of the 1960 and 1985 football teams in attendance for team reunions.
On Sept. 25, the UI Athletics Department will celebrate the Forest Evashevski era of football at the UI with the staging of the second “Throwback Game.” On that day, Iowa will replace their current uniforms with uniforms similar in look to those worn by the team “Evy” coached to an 8-1 season that ended with the Hawkeyes sharing first place in the Big Ten Conference.
The tickets are available because they were first assigned to the visiting team for sale to its fans. The UI has sold slightly more than 59,000 season tickets to the general public, UI faculty and staff, and UI students.
The Eastern Illinois and Ball State games are two of Iowa’s three home non-conference games in 2010. The Hawkeyes entertain Iowa State on Sept. 11 in the annual Hy-Vee Cy-Hawk Series game. Iowa also entertains Big Ten Conference rivals Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan State and Ohio State at Kinnick. All five of those events are sold out.
