Sept. 25, 2010

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The nationally ranked University of Iowa football team stages its second “Throwback Game” Saturday, celebrating the “Evashevski Era” of football the UI in uniforms that look and feel like those worn by the 1960 team as they entertain Balll State inside historic Kinnick Stadium. Kickoff is set for shortly after 11 a.m., Iowa time.

Evashevski coached the Hawkeyes for eight season during the 1950s. He turned the program into a national title contender that own a pair of Big Ten Conference championships and Rose Bowl games. Earlier this year, the UI renamed “Stadium Drive” – the street that runs just north of Kinnick Stadium, “Evashevski Drive” in honor of the hall of fame head coach.
