Badger Invitational Final Results in PDF Format
MADISON, Wis. – – The University of Iowa women’s golf team posted its third straight round under 300 to finish third at the Badger Invitational Monday. Iowa finished the tournament with an 894 team score after posting rounds of 299-297-298. The 894 team total is the third best 54-hole score recorded in school history and marks just the fourth 54-hole total under 900. No Iowa team had previously recorded three consecutive sub-300 rounds in a 54-hole event. The Hawkeyes moved up one spot in the final round, trailing only host Wisconsin (879) and Augusta State (881).
“What a great way to start the season,” said Head Coach Kelly Crawford. “Winning our home tournament last weekend, then following that up with a team record of three rounds under 300. We started off a little rough this morning, but I couldn’t be more proud of how the team held in there and finished strong. The girls are really having fun out there and it shows!”
Senior Laura Cilek and junior Chelsea Harris led the Hawkeyes as they both posted three round scores of 221 (+5). Cilek (70-77-74) and Harris (78-73-70) tied for seventh place.
Sophomore Kristi Cardwell finished 14th after carding a 224 (+8). Senior Lauren Forbes shot a third round 76 to tie for 22nd. Fellow senior Brianna Coopman posted 235 (+19) to round out the Hawkeye scorecard. Freshman Woojay Choi finished the tournament at 241 (+25) competing as an individual.
In its previous outing, Iowa won its own Hawkeye Invitational (Sept. 18-19). The Hawkeyes will look to build off their last two tournaments when they travel to Chicago, Ill. to compete in the Lady Northern (Oct. 11-12).
