Ferentz Live

Sept. 28, 2010

IOWA CITY, Iowa – Another date with a man he hold in high esteem – Joe Paterno – and one of college football’s “legacy programs” – the Penn State Nittany Lions – will be the topic of conversation Tuesday when Kirk Ferentz huddles with local, regional and national media inside the Hayden Fry Football Complex.

The nationally ranked Iowa Hawkeyes open their 2010 Big Ten Conference schedule Saturday inside historic Kinnick Stadium at 7 p.m. against the Nittany Lions in a game that will be televised live by ESPN. It’s another primetime date for these two squads who seem to play down-to-the-wire nail biters each year regardless of what the records and statistics might suggest.

“I expect another close one Saturday,” Ferentz said of this week’s game shortly after the Hawkeyes’ 45-0 route of Ball State last Saturday at Kinnick. Both teams are ranked and both teams have visions of a championship. Both coaches, however, will say that’s accomplished only by taking one game at a time, beginning Saturday night when Iowa will stage its first-ever Black and Gold Spirit Night in honor of the visiting team and the Homecoming crowd.

Ferentz’s visit — which is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. Iowa time — will be available live and exclusively from start to finish to subscribers of Hawkeye All-Access, the multi-media portal inside hawkeyesports.com, the official world wide web site of the Iowa Hawkeyes.
