IOWA CITY, Iowa – – The Big Ten Conference has named University of Iowa sophomore Jeff Thode Men’s Cross Country Co-Runner of the Week. Thode shared the honor with Indiana junior Ben Hubers. This is Thode’s first career Big Ten weekly honor and the first for the Hawkeye men’s team this season.
The Schaumburg, Ill., native paced Iowa at the Bradley Classic on Friday, finishing less than a second out of first place to lead the Hawkeyes to their third team win of the season. Thode’s time of 23:37 in the 8K marked a personal best and the fifth best time in Iowa history. He has been the top Hawkeye finisher in every race this season.
The Iowa men’s and women’s team will compete next at the Big Ten Championships. The meet will be held in Madison, Wis., on Oct. 31.
